Opinions on prohormones vary wildly. Some are strongly against any kind of performance enhancers, while others feel that the benefits of prohormones outweigh any disadvantages. In this article, we take an objective look at the benefits provided by prohormones.

Prohormones are Natural Supplements

A good argument is made for prohormones in that they are often completely natural, and work with the normal metabolic processes of the body. They work by causing hormones to be released that naturally occur in the body – the only difference being the quantity in which the hormones are produced and the means by which hormone production is triggered.

In many cases, prohormones are naturally derived from herbs or plant extracts, or a combination of minerals and vitamins. For example, a combination of zinc and magnesium aids the male body in the production of testosterone, and thus, is commonly added to prohormones.

Prohormones Have Other Medical Benefits

Aside from bodybuilding, prohormones do fill a place in the medical world. They can often be prescribed for mood disorders, as a sleep aid, or even to soothe premenstrual tension in women. Then of course, in the world of sports many people find them beneficial to weight loss and overall fitness. The greater the muscle mass, the faster you burn off unwanted fat.

Prohormones Aid in Building Muscle Without Putting on Fat

This is a prime goal of many weight lifters. The balance between muscle mass and fat can be a fine line to walk, and prohormones can help bodybuilders reach their desired weight goals without putting on excess weight in fat.

Prohormones Shorten Workout Recovery Time

Many bodybuilders find that recovery time is shortened between workouts when they are on a prohormone cycle. With each workout, muscles sustain a certain level of damage, and need time to repair themselves. Prohormones can shorten that time, allowing bodybuilders to workout harder and more frequently, thus reaching their workout goals more quickly.

Many Prohormones are Legal and Readily Available

Unlike anabolic steroids, there are many prohormone alternatives that are both legal and readily available. Many have been certified as safe, in that they won’t conflict with the chemistry or physiology of the body. This provides many athletes with a performance enhancer that won’t carry the serious consequences attached to illegal steroids.

Be cautious, however, to choose prohormones that are based on natural hormones and are sourced from reputable and well-known providers. There are inferior products and unethical providers out there, so it is wise to exercise caution when delving into the world of performance enhancing supplements. Read reviews, talk to professionals, and discuss the topic with your doctor.

There are risks involved even with legal steroids, and we will discuss this in a later article. However, some caution and research will minimize the risk of adverse reactions and will ensure the safe use of prohormones in your exercise routine.

    In my opinion and from my experience prohormones are just fine. They work, the side affects are manageable, very cool.
